Zhymbe, 33
Lama at Kharyasta Datsan.

Most of the people in the village come to the Datsan to pray. Of course they pray, and believe -- how can one not believe?

This Datsan was built only two years ago. Its design is based on Tibetan architecture -- you can see how the roof is like a Chinese roof. The objects inside are also based on Tibetan Buddhism.

There was another Datsan that was built here before the Revolution. But it was destroyed in 1936. By Stalin.

It is no accident that the second Datsan was also built here: this hill is a holy place.
